Context
Fifty years after Culture formed, the voice at the front of the group belongs to another generation of the Hill family. On July 3, 2026, Kenyatta takes Summerjam's Green Stage in Cologne. The gathering keeps in circulation the songs Joseph Hill carried across stages until his death in 2006.
By the Fühlinger See, the group lays its three-voice harmonies over roots reggae bass lines. Two Sevens Clash shows up early; Addis Ababa and Why Am I a Rastaman hold up the spiritual axis. Further on, International Herb and I'm Not Ashamed bring the historic repertoire toward its close.
The recording circulates through ARTE Concert, produced by German broadcaster WDR and running close to 52 minutes. The performance is part of the coverage of a festival that brings together different generations of Jamaican music. For Culture, the broadcast extends this passing of the torch: the name remains, but continuity depends on new voices.
