Context
In October 2020, the meeting takes place in Manguinhos, but its destination is a virtual festival. El Efecto records at Espaço Casa Viva for the Viradão Cultural Suburbano, which adapts its program to the pandemic. The choice is to play Memórias do Fogo in full, released two years earlier and named after Eduardo Galeano's trilogy.
Five musicians share the seven tracks, from Café to Incêndios, in album order. Aline Gonçalves handles flute, clarinet, maraca and vocals; Bruno Danton combines acoustic guitar, trumpet and pandeiro. Cristine Ariel and Tomás Rosati add cavaquinhos, while Vovô Bebê plays bass. The acoustic version keeps the album as its axis, without turning to a selection of hits.
In November, the Viradão gathers performances, debates and films in an entirely virtual edition focused on cultural production from the city's suburbs. The full session remains available from October 2021, edited by Iuri Gouvêa and mixed by Bruno Danton. The recording preserves this meeting between an album about collective conflicts and a cultural space in Manguinhos.
