“To see Ky-Mani take the Red Stage right after Julian Marley on Summerjam 2026's Sunday.”
Context
On July 5, 2026, Summerjam's Red Stage hosts two brothers back to back. Julian Marley finishes his set, and Ky-Mani takes the stage on the shores of the Fühlinger See in Cologne. The handoff from one to the other puts Bob Marley's legacy at the center of that Sunday.
Ky-Mani alternates his own songs with his father's classics, bringing reggae close to his hip-hop influences. The well-known choruses get answered by the crowd. Family ties are part of the gathering, but they do not sum up the performance: his voice and his repertoire share space with the songs that cross generations at the festival.
The show also sits at a moment of transition: in August of that year comes Love and Energy, after a long wait for a new album. The July performance gets a broadcast produced by WDR and circulated by ARTE Concert. The recording preserves this meeting of his own repertoire, family memory and festival.
