“To see the return to Rock in Rio, twenty-four years after the meeting at the Maracanã.”
Context
Twenty-four years separate the 1991 Maracanã from the City of Rock in September 2015. a-ha returns to the festival at the start of the Cast in Steel Tour, after resuming activity. Heavy rain comes with the band's arrival on the Palco Mundo and turns this reunion with the Brazilian audience into a night of difficult conditions.
I've Been Losing You and Cry Wolf open the program. Forest Fire and Under the Makeup bring the recent album into a sequence dominated by songs from the eighties and nineties. The latter appears in an acoustic version. Between them, Sycamore Leaves, You Are the One and Foot of the Mountain extend the path to the close with Take On Me.
The performance is streamed online and remains a document of the return to big stages. The Brazilian schedule continues in Barcarena and Paragominas in the first days of October. The festival brings two phases of the career together in the same symbolic place: the international expansion of the early nineties and the comeback after the 2010 farewell.
