“To see the return to the Nobel concert seventeen years later, closed with Kygo joining in.”
Context
Seventeen years after its first appearance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, a-ha returns to the event in December 2015. Telenor Arena, in Fornebu, hosts some eight thousand people. The performance comes in the year of the band's reunion and the release of Cast in Steel, within a program devoted to the peace prize.
Scoundrel Days opens the five-song block. The Sun Always Shines on T.V., Stay on These Roads and Sycamore Leaves set up the close. Karl Oluf Wennerberg plays drums, Even Ormestad is on bass and Erik Ljunggren adds keyboards. On Take On Me, the trio welcomes Kygo for the remixed version he had developed that year.
The event has its first live stream on YouTube and is also covered by NRK. The final collaboration places a-ha's repertoire inside the work of a Norwegian producer from another generation. Instead of reproducing a full tour concert, this recording packs the band's return into a twenty-minute appearance at the Nobel event.
