Context
The Tipping Point provides the starting point for Tears for Fears' session at The Village Studios. In 2022, KCRW revives its series of live performances, using different recording spaces in Los Angeles. The session places the recent repertoire of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith in a compact format.
No Small Thing and The Tipping Point open the five-song sequence. Mad World, Everybody Wants to Rule the World and Sowing the Seeds of Love connect the new album to three earlier moments in the band's history. The choice keeps the recent songs at the start and devotes the rest of the session to different phases of the catalog.
KCRW announces the broadcast for September 24, 2022. The video focuses on the musical performance, directed and edited by Vern Moen. This recording offers its own edit of the studio session, without matching the full setlist of the tour behind the album.
