“To hear two True North songs in Montreux, months before the project reached theaters.”
Context
The Montreux stop comes after the concerts in Lisbon, Barcelona and Nice in the summer of 2022. a-ha takes the stage at the Auditorium Stravinski on July 1 for a Montreux Jazz Festival performance. The indoor hall changes the scale compared with the open-air stages of the cities before this Swiss stop.
Sycamore Leaves starts a program of eighteen songs. Forest for the Trees and You Have What It Takes preview the True North material, before the album's release. I Dream Myself Alive and Here I Stand and Face the Rain revisit the first album. Anneli Drecker, present in Lisbon, does not take part in this Montreux performance.
Qello Concerts streams the show online with a one-hour delay. In September, True North reaches theaters, and the album comes out in October. Montreux holds that in-between position: the familiar catalog carries the night, while two songs announce a project already recorded in Norway and still awaiting its public premiere as a film.
