“To place the Analogue Tour on the televised stage of Quinta Vergara, during the 2006 Chilean visit.”
Context
The Analogue Tour passes through Chile in February 2006, a few months after the European leg of the year before. The destination is Quinta Vergara, home of the Viña del Mar Festival. The February 24 performance places a-ha in a South American television program and moves the promotion of Analogue into a festival setting.
Morten Harket, Pål Waaktaar-Savoy and Magne Furuholmen work with the tour's backing band. Per Lindvall is on drums, Sven Lindvall plays bass and Christer Karlsson adds keyboards. The lineup extends the partnership of previous years and backs the trio in the phase when the recent album shares space with the established catalog.
After Chile, the tour chronology lists a performance in Dakar in early March. The Viña recording preserves the stop at the amphitheater, rather than a release conceived as a live album. Its place in history lies in this international run of Analogue, between European concerts, Latin American television and other stops off the usual route.
