“To see Wind Rose on Bloodstock 2017's opening night, just months after the arrival of Stonehymn.”
Context
On Bloodstock 2017's opening Thursday, Wind Rose arrives at the Sophie Lancaster Stage with a new album and an identity increasingly tied to Tolkien's dwarves. Stonehymn came out in May; in August, the Italian band brings this phase to Catton Park in Walton-on-Trent.
The recorded intro Distant Battlefields gives way to Dance of Fire. Francesco Cavalieri handles vocals, joined by Claudio Falconcini, Federico Meranda, Cristiano Bertocchi, and Daniele Visconti. Fallen Timbers and The Wolves' Call keep Stonehymn at the center; Rebel and Free and The Breed of Durin revisit the previous album before To Erebor closes the performance.
The schedule continues after the summer, with European shows and the Brainstorm Festival in the Netherlands among the announced dates. The full Bloodstock recording arrives online later in August. It preserves a precise snapshot of this expansion: six songs, two albums, and the fantasy of Erebor as the final destination.
- To Erebor closes the performance after two songs from Wardens of the West Wind.
