Context
On Thursday, August 10, 2017, Bloodstock's opening day is still centered on the Sophie Lancaster Stage. Battle Beast is tasked with closing the night at Catton Park. The sextet arrives with Bringer of Pain, its first album recorded with Joona Björkroth, released six months earlier, in February.
Noora Louhimo leads a run that puts the new material front and center: Straight to the Heart, Bringer of Pain and Familiar Hell open the show. Joona and Juuso Soinio's guitars share space with Janne Björkroth's keyboards. The crowd sings along to the choruses, while Black Ninja and Touch in the Night revisit earlier albums.
King for a Day and Beyond the Burning Skies close the performance and return the focus to that year's album. In December, the festival itself releases the full recording. The footage preserves this period of creative reorganization: a band already making its first album without Anton Kabanen the centerpiece of the show.
- King for a Day and Beyond the Burning Skies close a performance dominated by Bringer of Pain.
