Context
On August 12, 2018, Nightwish closes Bloodstock's Ronnie James Dio Stage with a look back. The Decades tour accompanies a retrospective compilation and brings back older compositions. At Catton Park, Floor Jansen brings songs originally recorded by three different vocalists together under one voice.
End of All Hope leads the way. Video screens fill the stage and platforms with fantastical imagery, while Jansen alternates operatic singing, gentle passages, and metal attacks. Troy Donockley leads the wind instruments on I Want My Tears Back; Nemo brings the crowd into a singalong. Ghost Love Score closes the performance.
After the European summer, the retrospective continues through South America and returns to Europe through December. The Buenos Aires stop gets a DVD and Blu-ray release in 2019; Bloodstock remains an audiovisual document of the festival. It is also the last tour with Marko Hietala, still sharing the microphone and holding down the bass.
- Gethsemane and Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean bring back material from Oceanborn with Floor Jansen.
