Wind Rose formed in Pisa, Italy, in 2009, initially drawing on progressive metal. The debut album, Shadows Over Lothadruin, came out in 2012; the band then moved its sound toward power metal and fantasy themes. To Erebor paved the way for 2019's Wintersaga, which featured their version of Diggy Diggy Hole and cemented the dwarven aesthetic. Warfront and Trollslayer followed in 2022 and 2024.
