Alestorm

Born in Perth, Scotland, Alestorm turned power metal into a tavern on the high seas. Christopher Bowes and company traded dragons for pirates, rum and keytar, inventing the label “pirate metal” with deliberate humor. From Captain Morgan's Revenge to Curse of the Crystal Coconut, the band turned the joke into a festival institution, with a giant inflatable duck, tavern-chorus refrains and a musical seriousness greater than the costume suggests.
