Context
On August 12, 2017, King 810 arrives on Bloodstock's main stage with a crucial member missing. Andrew Beal stayed in the United States following legal trouble. Almost a year after La Petite Mort or a Conversation with God, the group faces Catton Park as a trio.
David Gunn runs across the stage and crouches to speak to the crowd, who sing the lyrics back. Video screens show violence and headlines from Flint, the band's hometown. Fat Around the Heart and Give My People Back draw a response from the crowd; the confrontation ends with Killem All, without erasing the guitarist's absence.
In October, the festival itself releases the full performance. In December of that year, the acoustic EP Queen points in another direction, with five slow songs that contrast with the pressure of this set. The Bloodstock recording preserves a shorthanded lineup that honors its commitment and brings its hometown to an English stage.
- David Gunn shares the stage with images and headlines from Flint before closing with Killem All.
