Orange Goblin — European Metal Festival Alliance 2020

In 2020, Orange Goblin's 25th anniversary meets a festival circuit shut down by the pandemic. The planned celebration loses its stages but finds another outlet: the European Metal Festival Alliance. Bloodstock and twelve other European festivals join forces for an online program to raise funds for the independent sector.

With no audience in the studio, Ben Ward sings to the cameras, with Joe Hoare on guitar, Martyn Millard on bass, and Chris Turner on drums. Scorpionica opens the journey through eight albums. Sons of Salem and Renegade represent The Wolf Bites Back; Saruman's Wish reaches back to the beginning of the discography, before Red Tide Rising closes the set.

The performance is part of the August 9 program and remains a document of a lineup approaching a change. In October, Millard announces his amicable departure; Harry Armstrong takes over on bass in 2021. The recording preserves the meeting of an interrupted anniversary and a collective response to the absence of festivals.
