Soulfly

Created by Max Cavalera in 1997, after his departure from Sepultura, Soulfly turned grief and rupture into tribal metal. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, it mixed groove metal, nu metal, Brazilian percussion, reggae and world music on Soulfly and Primitive, before hardening toward thrash and death metal on Dark Ages and Conquer. With rotating lineups, it remains Max's personal platform: intense, spiritual and always direct.
