Context
Ten years earlier, Sabaton had just half an hour and six songs to introduce itself to Bloodstock. On August 9, 2019, the band returns to Catton Hall as Friday's headliner. It is the band's first time headlining a British festival, three weeks after the release of The Great War.
A tank occupies the Ronnie James Dio Stage, and Ghost Division opens the set. Joakim Brodén chats between songs, while Resist and Bite and Winged Hussars get the crowd singing along. Night Witches gets real flames. Great War, Fields of Verdun, 82nd All the Way and The Red Baron bring the new album into this larger-scale production.
The encore moves through Primo Victoria and Swedish Pagans before arriving at To Hell and Back. The recording takes on another role in 2020, when it becomes part of EMFA's virtual program. Preserved on video by the festival, the night documents a concrete shift in standing: the band that once played at noon now carries the main stage's closing slot.
- Night Witches pairs the performance with fire onstage.
