“To see McCartney return to River Plate after thirteen years, opening two nights of Got Back.”
Context
Thirteen years after the 2010 shows, Paul McCartney returns to the River Plate stadium on October 5, 2024. It is the first of two consecutive nights in Buenos Aires. Got Back arrives in the city after opening its South American leg in Montevideo, with room for changes in the set.
Can't Buy Me Love opens the way through the Beatles, Wings and his solo career. Now and Then sits alongside Here Today, dedicated to Lennon, while Something honors Harrison. In the encore, I've Got a Feeling reunites Paul with John's recorded voice; Hi, Hi, Hi returns after five years out of the shows.
The performance is broadcast by Flow the following day, when McCartney also plays his second night at the stadium. After Buenos Aires, the tour heads to Santiago and continues through Latin America before the European leg. The recording preserves a night in which the memory of the Beatles lives alongside less frequent Wings choices.
- Hi, Hi, Hi reappears in the encore after five years out of the set.
