Context
Four years after the 2010 visit, Biffy Clyro returns to Landgraaf on another scale. Opposites had taken the trio to number one in Britain in 2013. Now, on June 9, 2014, the band takes the Pinkpop main stage, on a bill that ends with Metallica.
Simon Neil, James Johnston and Ben Johnston share the stage with touring musicians Mike Vennart and Richard Ingram. Stingin' Belle opens a thirteen-song sequence. Five come from Opposites, but Only Revolutions takes up more space: The Captain, God & Satan and Many of Horror run along the way to Mountains.
The schedule moves on to the Isle of Wight four days later, still within the Opposites cycle. The Pinkpop recording preserves a festival set of less than an hour, without visiting the first albums. Its center lies in the phase that took the band from smaller stages to the big European bills.
- Mountains closes the show after Modern Magic Formula.
