Context
On May 16, 2005, DI-RECT returns to Pinkpop three years after its 2002 appearance. The group from The Hague no longer arrives with only its first songs: All Systems Go, its third album, had debuted at the top of the Dutch chart in February. Landgraaf welcomes the original lineup.
Tim Akkerman handles vocals and guitar alongside Spike, Bas van Wageningen and Jamie Westland. Wibi Soerjadi's guest spot gives the set a specific meeting: the classical pianist sits at the piano for Blind for You, a song he also recorded with the band. The partnership brings the new record to the festival stage.
After Landgraaf, the year still holds the trip across the United States for MTV's Road Rally show. Akkerman stays in the group until 2009, before Marcel Veenendaal comes in. Preserved as a festival audiovisual recording, this set captures the four-piece in the era of its first album to reach number one.
