Context
On May 3, 2006, the Super Colossal tour reaches the Grove of Anaheim with the album still fresh: less than two months separate its release from the recording. Joe Satriani puts his tenth studio album at the center of the night, without leaving the earlier catalog at the door.
Flying in a Blue Dream opens the journey, and The Extremist arrives before Redshift Riders introduces the new material. Galen Henson takes rhythm guitar, Dave LaRue plays bass and Jeff Campitelli sits behind the drums. Nine tracks from Super Colossal share space with Satch Boogie, Circles and Surfing With the Alien.
After Anaheim, the road continues across the United States and reaches Europe in June. In October, the performance arrives on double CD and double DVD as Satriani Live, with the same set in both formats. Summer Song closes the recording: the new album takes up space, but does not erase the road that led there.
