Why watch

“To see Shakira bring together Alejandro Sanz and Wyclef Jean in Miami on the tour for her bilingual project.”

Context

In December 2006, Miami welcomes Shakira with two albums in different languages carrying the same tour. Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 and Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 had come out the year before. At the American Airlines Arena, that split meets a common stage, also set up for the cameras.

Shakira sings, dances and trades the microphone for the guitar on Don't Bother and Inevitable. On Te Dejo Madrid, she plays harmonica. Tim Mitchell is the band's musical director, while two partners step in: Alejandro Sanz shares La Tortura; Wyclef Jean joins Hips Don't Lie, at the close.

The tour continues through 2007, and the film reaches DVD in November along with a live CD. Nick Wickham directs the film, which combines material from Miami and San Juan. The extras go behind the scenes of the journey and into the work of the Pies Descalzos Foundation in Colombia, widening the portrait beyond the stage.

La Tortura and Hips Don't Lie get the voices of her partners from the studio recordings.
