Context
On September 23, 2006, Duran Duran sets foot on a Polish stage for the first time. The event takes over the Służewiec racecourse in Warsaw, after sets by Sistars and Myslovitz. Astronaut had reunited the five classic members on record, but Andy Taylor is no longer with the band on this night.
Dom Brown takes the guitar alongside Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor. Simon Willescroft debuts on saxophone. The setlist brings What Happens Tomorrow, Nice and (Reach Up for the) Sunrise close to Hungry Like the Wolf and Planet Earth. Girls on Film and Rio close the encore.
Polish TV broadcasts the event, preserving the band's arrival in the country during a lineup change. In October, the group announces Andy Taylor's departure and carries on as a quartet, with Brown as touring guitarist. Warsaw sits between the reunion that produced Astronaut and the next studio chapter.
- Simon Willescroft makes his debut on saxophone with the band.
