“To follow the Adore-era shift in front of the Pinkpop crowd in June 1998.”
Context
The Smashing Pumpkins arrive at Pinkpop in June 1998 with Adore at the center of the show. Landgraaf welcomes a band that shifts the focus to songs like To Sheila, Ava Adore and Tear.
The night's documented set gathers seven songs from Adore and three from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Thru the Eyes of Ruby and Perfect appear in acoustic versions. Shame is part of the show, before Blank Page.
The show captures the transition to an era different from the one that took the band to the big arenas. Instead of reducing the night to earlier hits, the Pumpkins put the new material in front of the festival crowd.
