Context
The Smashing Pumpkins stop at Düsseldorf's Philipshalle for the 1996 Osterrocknacht. The show belongs to the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness era, when the double album's songs dominate the stage.
Billy Corgan, James Iha, D’Arcy Wretzky and Jimmy Chamberlin share the stage with Jonathan Melvoin on keyboards. Tonight, Tonight opens the sequence. To Forgive, Muzzle, Porcelina of the Vast Oceans and X.Y.U. show different sides of the same album.
Rockpalast preserves the night as a TV broadcast. The file lets you follow the lineup of that period in a set that also revisits Today, Disarm and Cherub Rock, linking the double album to the Siamese Dream era.
