Why watch

“To see Deftones on the European run of Around the Fur, after two straight days of festivals.”

Context

On June 1, 1998, Deftones reaches Megaland, in Landgraaf, after playing Dynamo and Rock am Ring on the two previous days. Around the Fur had come out the previous October and now carries the band's run through the European festivals.

On stage, Chino Moreno takes vocals, Stephen Carpenter guitar, Chi Cheng bass and Abe Cunningham drums. My Own Summer opens the sequence. Root, Bored and 7 Words reach back to Adrenaline, while Teething makes room for a Nas quote among the songs from the two albums.

After Pinkpop, the 1998 schedule still includes Roskilde, Warped Tour and Ozzfest. The road to White Pony, released in 2000, still lies ahead. The recording joins the festival's official archive in 2025 and preserves a concentrated snapshot of the Around the Fur era.

Teething brings Nas into the show; Be Quiet and Drive crosses paths with PJ Harvey and Depeche Mode.
