Why watch

“To see the Weight lineup on Pinkpop's south stage, a year after Liar broke through.”

Context

On June 5, 1995, the Rollins Band reaches Pinkpop's south stage after widening its reach with Weight and the video for Liar. In Landgraaf, however, the hit is left out. The choice focuses the show on eight other tracks from that record, without turning the festival into a retrospective.

Henry Rollins takes the vocals with Chris Haskett on guitar, Melvin Gibbs on bass and Sim Cain on drums. Do It, by the Pink Fairies, opens the run. Civilized and Divine Object of Hatred lead the Weight block; Low Self Opinion brings back The End of Silence before Disconnect and Shine close the show.

The lineup carries on through Come In and Burn, from 1997, before Rollins ends that stage of the band. The Megaland date remains as a television record of the Weight era. Between the exposure gained on MTV and the later breakup, Pinkpop holds a ten-song snapshot, with the then-latest album at its center.

Do It opens the show; Liar is left out of the ten songs.
