Context
On May 27, 1996, Radiohead arrives in Landgraaf a day after playing the Bataclan, in Paris. The Bends had already widened the band's space beyond Creep. At Pinkpop, the five-piece takes Megaland on a bill that also includes The Prodigy, Rage Against the Machine and Alanis Morissette.
My Iron Lung opens the performance, followed by Planet Telex. Thom Yorke shares guitars with Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien, while Colin Greenwood and Philip Selway complete the lineup. High and Dry, Just and Fake Plastic Trees hold up the core of The Bends; Creep stays along the way. Anyone Can Play Guitar closes the encore.
In the following months, the band opens for Alanis Morissette and moves forward with work on OK Computer, released in 1997. Lucky and Electioneering already tie this Pinkpop appearance to the next record. The television footage preserves this transition, although the edit leaves Lift out and cuts two other songs down to excerpts.
- Anyone Can Play Guitar returns in the encore to close the performance.
