“To see Gotthard's acoustic meeting with Jon Lord at the second edition of Zermatt Unplugged.”
Context
In April 2008, Gotthard's hard rock meets the acoustic concept of a festival still in its second edition. The band arrives in Zermatt during the Domino Effect tour, after winning best rock album at the Swiss Music Awards in January.
On the night of April 11, Steve Lee takes the microphone in the main tent. Leo Leoni and Freddy Scherer share the guitars, with Marc Lynn on bass and Hena Habegger on drums. Hush makes room for Jon Lord: the Deep Purple musician joins a song that also runs through Gotthard's history.
Swiss television records the meeting. In the following months, the band heads through Scandinavia and the summer festivals before joining Deep Purple on their fortieth-anniversary German tour. Zermatt stands as a concrete point of contact between the two groups: not just an acknowledged influence, but a musician sharing the stage.
- Jon Lord joins in on Hush, already featured on the band's first album.
