Gotthard — Garage Live 2005
Recorded 2005
Setlist not available.
Album featured at the showLipservice2005The TV session follows the Lipservice era, with several of the album's songs in the program's documented repertoire.“To see Gotthard on television in 2005, in their first studio era with Freddy Scherer.”
Context
In 2005, Gotthard comes to television with a recent change in the guitars. Freddy Scherer had replaced Mandy Meyer the year before and taken part in writing Lipservice. The album also marks a reorganization of the band's business, with the creation of G. Records and international distribution through Nuclear Blast.
On Garage Live, Steve Lee takes the microphone with Leo Leoni and Scherer on guitars, Marc Lynn on bass and Hena Habegger on drums. The session puts the Lipservice era in front of the cameras. The TV format brings this lineup to an audience outside the usual circuit of clubs, festivals and arenas.
The season gains another document when the group records Zurich's Hallenstadion in December. That separate performance becomes the CD and DVD Made in Switzerland, released in 2006. Garage Live remains a TV snapshot of the same period: the band presents its new phase before turning it into a live release.
