“To see Foo Fighters close Pinkpop a week before the two nights at Wembley.”
Context
A week before taking over Wembley for two nights, Foo Fighters closes Pinkpop's main stage on May 31, 2008. In Landgraaf, the band arrives with Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace still fresh and an expanded touring lineup that adds keyboards, percussion and strings to the four-piece core.
The Pretender opens the set, while This Is a Call is preceded by a blues jam. Stacked Actors makes room for Hocus Pocus, by Focus, before the acoustic block with Skin and Bones, My Hero and But, Honestly. In Everlong, Grohl starts alone and then the full band joins him.
The encore brings Long Road to Ruin and Best of You, but the curfew leaves Let It Die on paper. The following week, the tour reaches Wembley, where it gets another recording, released on DVD. The professional Landgraaf footage stays in the festival archive and resurfaces in full in 2025, preserving this stop before the London stadiums.
- Stacked Actors includes Hocus Pocus, by Focus, before the turn to the acoustic block.
- Everlong starts with Grohl alone and builds as the full band comes in.
