“To see the reunion with Ron Asheton at Pinkpop, months after the first new album since 1973.”
Context
At five in the afternoon on May 27, 2007, the Stooges find sunshine at Pinkpop after the previous day's rain. The reunion had already produced The Weirdness, the first album of new material since 1973. In Landgraaf, however, a one-hour slot forces choices and cuts to the usual set.
Loose opens the way with Ron and Scott Asheton, while Mike Watt holds down the bass. During I Wanna Be Your Dog, Iggy drops into the pit in front of the crowd and sings at the barrier. Real Cool Time reverses the movement: he calls the audience up, and No Fun finds the stage packed.
After Landgraaf, the itinerary moves on to Neuchâtel, in Switzerland. The recording preserves this stage of the reunion with Ron Asheton still on guitar, before his death in 2009. My Idea of Fun links the performance to the new album; Skull Ring and the encore Little Electric Chair also bring the solo career inside the band.
- Iggy drops down to the barrier during I Wanna Be Your Dog and later calls fans up to take over the stage.
