Context
On June 4, 2005, the Nürburgring welcomes Marilyn Manson to Rock am Ring's twentieth-anniversary party. The band arrives with the Against All Gods tour, tied to the Lest We Forget compilation. It is a retrospective on the road, but with different pieces: Mark Chaussee takes guitar and Chris Vrenna sits at the drums.
Manson shares the stage with Tim Skold on bass and Madonna Wayne Gacy on keyboards and percussion. The selection starts with Disposable Teens and moves through Great Big White World, The Nobodies and The Dope Show. Personal Jesus, Tainted Love and Sweet Dreams put three covers among the originals, before the close with The Beautiful People.
The festival appearance is captured by the cameras of an edition in which Rockpalast and MTV record more than forty shows. The tour runs until August 2005. The television recording preserves this transitional lineup: a band revisiting its own past while already working with other hands on guitar and drums.
- Personal Jesus shares space with Tainted Love and Sweet Dreams on the Lest We Forget tour.
