Context
In April 1995, Sublime crosses the country before reaching a mass audience. Robbin' the Hood has already followed the independent debut, and radio is widening the reach of Date Rape. At the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, the trio shares the night with Hogan's Heroes.
Bradley Nowell takes vocals and guitar, with Eric Wilson on bass and Bud Gaugh on drums. STP opens the run, which brings Saw Red and Pool Shark close to Badfish and Don't Push. The covers of Bad Brains, Descendents and Grateful Dead lay bare the different references that coexist in the set.
Months later, the band joins the first national Warped Tour. Wider success arrives with the third album in 1996, after Nowell's death. Ian MacKenzie Smith's footage preserves another snapshot: the club circuit, the first two albums and Garden Grove still before its release.
- Garden Grove appears on stage before the release of the third album.
