Context
On June 5, 1995, the Levellers reach Landgraaf with a big recent show on their résumé: the year before, they had headlined Glastonbury's main stage. Pinkpop finds the Brighton five-piece between albums, with Zeitgeist still to come and new songs already taking up space on stage.
England My Home opens the sequence, which runs through Sell Out and meets The Fear and Maid of the River. One Way shares space with Men-an-Tol and Hope Street, bringing the established repertoire close to the upcoming recordings. Mark Chadwick and Simon Friend take the vocals, alongside Jon Sevink, Jeremy Cunningham and Charlie Heather.
Zeitgeist reaches stores in August and goes to number one in Britain, widening the band's commercial reach. The Pinkpop performance remains an audiovisual record of that interval: the new songs do not yet carry the weight of the charts. Carry Me and Liberty Song close the set, linking that next stage to the group's early years.
- The Fear, Maid of the River, Men-an-Tol and Hope Street preview the next album.
