Context
One month separates Throwing Copper's number one on Billboard from Live's stop in Landgraaf. On June 5, 1995, the quartet reaches Pinkpop with the scale of its career transformed. Woodstock, Saturday Night Live and MTV Unplugged had already set up that leap.
At Megaland, Ed Kowalczyk takes vocals and guitar, with Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer and Chad Gracey. The Dam at Otter Creek opens a sequence devoted entirely to Throwing Copper. Selling the Drama comes right after; Lightning Crashes sits at the center, while I Alone and White, Discussion lead the final stretch.
After this season, Secret Samadhi arrives in 1997 and debuts at the top of the American chart, riding its predecessor's commercial momentum. The Pinkpop recording remains a snapshot of that turning point: nine songs from a single album carry the performance. At the end, interviews with the musicians extend the document beyond the stage.
