Wyclef Jean

Wyclef Jean was born in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, and moved with his family to the United States as a child, growing up in New Jersey. He rose to prominence as a member of the Fugees, whose 1996 album The Score featured hits such as “Killing Me Softly”.

After the trio split, he released The Carnival in 1997, his first solo album, and kept alternating hip-hop, reggae and Haitian references on albums such as The Ecleftic and Welcome to Haiti: Creole 101.
