Shakira

Shakira was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, and began recording as a teenager. After two early records that made little impact, Pies Descalzos, from 1995, introduced her to Latin American audiences; ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? consolidated that phase.

In 2001, Laundry Service marked her move into the English-speaking market, with English versions of earlier songs and tracks like “Whenever, Wherever”. Later, she alternated records in Spanish and English, including Fijación Oral and Oral Fixation.
