Context
On September 25, 2015, Nightwish arrives at Rock in Rio for the first time. The meeting takes place on the Sunset Stage, during the Endless Forms Most Beautiful tour. Floor Jansen handles vocals, and Kai Hahto is on drums in place of Jukka Nevalainen, sidelined by health problems.
Shudder Before the Beautiful opens the set, followed by Yours Is an Empty Hope. The new album takes four of the nine songs, between Wishmaster and Stargazers. Marko Hietala carries the first half of The Islander alone, before Tony Kakko joins in. The Sonata Arctica singer also sings Last Ride of the Day.
Ghost Love Score closes the live sequence, before the exit accompanied by a recording of The Greatest Show on Earth. The tour runs into 2016 and is documented on Vehicle of Spirit. Among that release's extras, Last Ride of the Day preserves the meeting with Kakko on the Rio stage.
- The Islander starts with Marko Hietala alone and then welcomes Tony Kakko.
