Context
On August 11, 2018, the Ronnie James Dio stage hosts Septicflesh's symphonic death metal on Bloodstock's Saturday. Codex Omega had arrived less than a year earlier. The Greek band enters Catton Park with three songs from that record and a selection focused on its four most recent albums.
Spiros Antoniou handles vocals and bass, with Christos Antoniou and Psychon on guitars and Krimh on drums. The heavy riffs share space with orchestral arrangements. Portrait of a Headless Man opens the sequence; The Vampire from Nazareth and Pyramid God bring back The Great Mass, while Communion and Anubis lead toward the close.
A few weeks later, the band announces a deal with Nuclear Blast. In February 2019, it takes an orchestra and choir to the Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City for another recording, released in 2020 as Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX. The Bloodstock footage preserves the festival scale of this era: eight songs, four players and the symphonic weight compressed into 44 minutes.
- Portrait of a Headless Man opens the show; Dark Art closes the set with another track from Codex Omega.
