Context
On August 20, 2005, the Alpha tent welcomes Nightwish back to Lowlands. The previous visit had presented Century Child; now Once drives a world tour and widens the band's reach. Tarja Turunen is still fronting the quintet, two months before the split.
Dark Chest of Wonders opens the set with choirs reinforcing the voices of Tarja and Marko Hietala. Emppu Vuorinen roams the stage and even plays his bandmate's bass. On Nemo, the singer smiles at the crowd singing along. The closing Wish I Had an Angel is dedicated to André of After Forever.
The season runs until October, when the tour ends at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. That other stage provides the material for End of an Era, released on DVD in 2006; right after the concert, Tarja receives the letter dismissing her. The Lowlands TV recording preserves an earlier meeting before the outcome, still with the five musicians of that lineup.
- Wish I Had an Angel closes the set with a dedication to André of After Forever.
