Context
On April 21, 2001, Shaman arrives at Via Funchal without an album out. André Matos, Luis Mariutti and Ricardo Confessori had left Angra; Hugo Mariutti completes the quartet on guitar. After shows in Recife, Curitiba and France, the band debuts in front of the São Paulo audience.
Time Will Come opens the way for original songs among pieces from the old group. Fábio Ribeiro handles supporting keyboards. Living for the Night brings André and Yves Passarell together; Painkiller brings in Arnaldo Ricci. On the Metallica cover, André takes the drums, Confessori picks up the guitar and Hugo takes the vocals.
The Pre-Ritual Tour runs until July, before the band focuses on preparing its first album. The São Paulo night remains a document of this transition: Time Will Come, Blind Spell and For Tomorrow still share space with the past. The recording preserves Shaman before Ritual defined its first album repertoire.
- Yves Passarell joins on Living for the Night, and Arnaldo Ricci comes in on Painkiller.
- André Matos takes the drums on the Metallica cover, with Hugo Mariutti on vocals.
