Context
On May 23, 1994, Morphine arrives at Pinkpop with no guitar in the lineup. Cure for Pain had come out eight months earlier and opened the way for the trio's first world tour. In Landgraaf, the festival welcomes a band that builds its identity on bass, saxophone and drums.
Mark Sandman takes vocals and two-string bass, Dana Colley plays saxophone and Billy Conway sits at the drums. The Saddest Song starts the preserved cut, which brings Good close to the newer songs. Candy, Thursday and All Wrong carry the set; Inside Dana's Head makes room for Colley before You Look Like Rain and Buena.
After this stop, the band continues on its path and reaches Yes in 1995. The recording remains tied to Pinkpop's TV coverage, which also includes interviews with the musicians. Here, the conversation with Sandman follows the songs: the document keeps both the repertoire of that phase and the songwriter's presence off stage.
- Inside Dana's Head spotlights Dana Colley in a solo number.
