Context
An office in Washington seems small for Turnstile's habits. In 2025, the Baltimore band comes to the Tiny Desk in person with NEVER ENOUGH, its fourth album, as its only working material. Instead of reproducing the record, it adds piano, saxophone and trumpet to the five-member lineup.
Troy Long takes the piano, while Tobias Moody and Theljon Allen widen the colors of the arrangements. DREAMING opens a run that moves through SUNSHOWER and I CARE. The title track becomes a reflective ballad, and Brendan Yates thanks the family, friends and personal heroes in the room.
BIRDS breaks the restraint: Yates climbs onto the furniture and dives onto the audience, inaugurating the stage dive at the Tiny Desk. The session reaches the public in September, ahead of the American tour. The recording preserves this contrast: a band that reshapes its music to fit the office, but ends up crossing its physical limits.
- Piano, saxophone and trumpet reshape five songs from NEVER ENOUGH.
