“To see Sepultura's last tour with Max Cavalera meet the first Doctor Music Festival.”
Context
On July 12, 1996, Escalarre hosts the first Doctor Music Festival. The event fills three days in Catalonia, with names like David Bowie, Lou Reed and Sepultura. For the Brazilian quartet, the stop is part of the run for Roots, released months earlier.
Max Cavalera takes vocals and guitar alongside Andreas Kisser, Paulo Jr. and Igor Cavalera. Roots Bloody Roots opens the way for Spit, Attitude and Ambush. The group intersperses this material with Troops of Doom and a medley of Arise and Dead Embryonic Cells. Monólogo ao pé do ouvido and Polícia add two Brazilian references to the Spanish stage.
Canal 33's footage preserves the show as a television record of this lineup. In December, Max plays his last show with Sepultura, in London, and leaves the band after the performance. Escalarre thus holds a stop on the last tour of the quartet that recorded Roots, before the split.
- Polícia closes the show with a Titãs cover that takes in parts of Biohazard's Victory.
