Context
On August 11, 2021, Bloodstock opens on a Wednesday, restoring the gathering interrupted by the pandemic. In the Sophie Lancaster tent, Onslaught closes the day's program. The band arrives with Generation Antichrist, released the previous year, and Dave Garnett in the role Sy Keeler left in 2020.
Garnett leads the set through Killing Peace, Let There Be Death and the recent tracks Bow Down to the Clowns and Religiousuicide. The pivotal encounter comes during Metal Forces: Keeler steps onstage and trades verses with his successor. The exchange turns a song from The Force into a tangible passing of the torch, right before the crowd.
After the festival, this lineup continues on its path, and the full performance makes its way online in April 2022. The recording preserves the contrast of that return: songs from the 1980s sit alongside material from Garnett's first album. At its center is the meeting of two voices that do not need to erase each other.
