“To see Tom G. Warrior devote his Bloodstock set to Celtic Frost in a UK-exclusive performance.”
Context
A slot opened by Anthrax's cancellation changes Saturday at Bloodstock. On August 12, 2023, Triptykon takes the main stage at Catton Park with a specific plan: to play only Celtic Frost. For Tom G. Warrior, the occasion also celebrates the British support his former band has received since the 1980s.
Warrior sings and plays guitar alongside V. Santura, Vanja Slajh, and Hannes Grossmann. Without any special stage production, the quartet focuses the performance on Celtic Frost's earliest recordings. Into the Crypts of Rays opens the attack; Dethroned Emperor and Circle of the Tyrants keep the heaviness rooted in the songs that helped shape extreme metal.
Afterward, Meshuggah closes out the main stage. Triptykon's performance reaches a wider audience in November through a filmed selection of nearly thirty minutes, featuring six songs. The selection does not replace the fifteen numbers played that night, but preserves its purpose: to bring Celtic Frost's early work before a festival audience once again.
- Six songs capture Triptykon's encounter with the early work of Warrior's former band.
