Context
The sun is still out over Catton Park when Emperor brings its darkness to Bloodstock on August 10, 2018. The exclusive UK appearance extends the twentieth-anniversary celebration of Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk. The 1997 album takes center stage, with no shortcuts through the discography.
On the Ronnie James Dio Stage, Ihsahn handles vocals and guitar alongside Samoth and Trym Torson. The set moves through the album's eight tracks, from Alsvartr (The Oath) to the instrumental The Wanderer. With Strength I Burn precedes that final passage; afterward, I Am the Black Wizards and Inno a Satana revisit In the Nightside Eclipse.
After Emperor, Judas Priest closes out Friday's main-stage program. The Norwegian band's full performance circulates as professional footage in October 2018. The recording preserves a deliberate choice: rather than condensing its career into a festival overview, the band retains the sequence and full length of a single album.
- Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk is performed in full, in its original order.
