Context
Ten years separate Annihilator from its previous Wacken appearance. On August 1, 2013, the return happens in strong heat, with Feast yet to hit the stores. The band takes the Black Metal Stage: Rammstein's production reserves the other main stage exclusively for the German headliner.
Jeff Waters wields his Flying V, while Dave Padden handles vocals and second guitar. Alberto Campuzano and Mike Harshaw complete the quartet. Smear Campaign opens the show, and No Way Out also previews the new album. King of the Kill and W.T.Y.D. pull the past to the center, with crowdsurfers crossing the audience before the close with Alison Hell.
Feast reaches the European market on August 23, a few weeks later. In March 2014, the show gets a DVD release in the album's limited reissue, alongside the Re-Kill re-recordings. The meeting stops being just a festival stop and comes to document the link between the new material and the earlier catalog.
- Smear Campaign and No Way Out present songs from an album not yet released.
