Context
On November 8, 2013, Annihilator's European route reaches the Aurora Concert Hall, in Saint Petersburg. Feast had been in stores since August, but the opener belongs to Alison Hell. Jeff Waters and Dave Padden lead a lineup completed by bassist Alberto Campuzano and drummer Mike Harshaw.
The night runs through the catalog without concentrating everything on the new album. W.T.Y.D., Never, Neverland and The Fun Palace fill the first half. Phoenix Rising, Sounds Good to Me and Snake in the Grass share a block with a drum solo. Only then do No Way Out and Smear Campaign come in, bringing the stage closer to Feast.
The tour's next stop takes the band to Moscow. Further on, Padden's departure at the end of 2014 ends a partnership that began in 2003. The Saint Petersburg recording preserves this lineup still active, with room for the present and for the old catalog. Phantasmagoria has the last word.
- Phoenix Rising, Sounds Good to Me and Snake in the Grass form the block that comes before the new Feast songs.
